I've previously posted in this Hertz LAX forum that they won't close out the contract with you present. That's just the current Covid policy at this station. The car has to be disinfected first then they will close it out. Takes a while (15 to 30 minutes now) unless they aren't busy...which recently they are always extremely busy.
How new is that policy I was there about three months ago returning a vehicle and didn’t have any issue getting a receipt and closed out, then I returned a car for an exchange about two months ago and didn’t have an issue with the return. The exchange was another issue because it came from an HLE and they thought in their system the vehicle was overdue and I had to wait approximately an hour until they can phone that HLE. Very antiquated system, HLE said they had all the capacity of going in there system and looking. Hertz denied, and then when the H Alley opened they said hey we have an employee number that the record is open at LAX on someone’s computer. Such a cluster. But I digress
