These are the ones I am looking for. They are usually Delsey or Samsonite from what I've seen. Old school, looks ugly, but look like they can take a beating and travel around the world 100x without any additional scratches, unlike the suitcases I buy that get worn out after 2-3 trips.
The one I saw most as crew luggage was the Samsonite Oyster. EI and BA flight crews would just have a whole stack of 'em carried out on a cart by a skycap. They're every bit as indestructible as they look, but they've been discontinued for 5+ years at this point. They're also kinda awkward to roll, particularly if you're tall.
They pop up at thrift shops for $5 from time to time, though, and they're technically legal as firearm cases because they're hard sided and no one else can open the locks--they predate the TSA master keys.
