All i know is that flying as an EXP with around 12k EQD's, i am usually 2 or 3 on the upgrade list hub to hub (CLT, DFW, PHX, etc) with 15+ names on the upgrade list. That means more elites are flying, which one assumes are business (how many leisure travelers make EXP?). Out of MIA, I'm often the only CK member on my flights. Perhaps you are #2 or #3 on the upgrade lists because there are other EXPs with higher EQDs. In my experience, it's very rare for AA not to upgrade CKs prior to advance.
