I realized F/J can become overbooked as a result of equipment swaps / IRROPS, but that isn't the case here. Did Delta oversell F? If so, how do they typically handle oversell situations for F/J?
Prior to Covid, DL did overbook premium classes, even long-haul D1. However, all seats blocked up front on your flight doesn't necessarily mean that the F/J is overbooked; it could be that Y is oversold and they are expecting to have to op-up people to F/J or that it's a flight that often has off-duty flight crews who are typically flying on that leg as passengers before the trip they will actually be pilots on. Also, DL has a huge Revenue Mismanagement team with horrible staff turnover and each analyst's risk tolerance is different.
