Just drove by the former Hilton Al Hamra and it was basically boarded up. It was not the greatest property -- and often had rates that were higher than the superior Hilton Resort & Spa Ras Al Khaimah at the other end of the city -- but I had some fine stays there. It also had Trader Vics which, although probably the worst representation of this brand at any outlet, was welcome in RAK.
