I have seen a number of long haul crews (old school) with the hard-sided lightweight (I think it is ABS plastic) Samsonite hard shelled suitcases. I have one that was my parents that is pretty indestructible, very lightweight, and even has rollers (but it rolls lengthwise without a long handle). Aside from the rolling misdesign and the lack of a TSA lock, it is a great suitcase.
These are the ones I am looking for. They are usually Delsey or Samsonite from what I've seen. Old school, looks ugly, but look like they can take a beating and travel around the world 100x without any additional scratches, unlike the suitcases I buy that get worn out after 2-3 trips.
