I just have issus being lied to by management and feeling very much trapped on a island where you need them to arrange to get you off. What summed it up best was when there was a complaint with Marriott, they also lied to Marriott, not thinking I would have evidence proving quite clearly what happened.

This is seperate and what I class as a minor issue when there, but sums up the "service standards" they had while I was there. I tried to use the iron in the room and the handle got so hot I burnt myself on it, turned out and electrical fault and probably dropped by a previous guest or housekeeping. That in itself didnt bother me as can happen (and has at other hotels) but when I asked for a replacement it took 3 requests and when they did turn up, they insisted inpecting the other iron first, when they couldnt see anythign wrong with it, plugged it in, waited for it to hear up and only when they couldnt pick it up did they give me a replacement!

A more relevent point I would make is, they are very 'relaxed' about the speedboat transfer times, we decided to leave after breakfast and was meant to schedule with a seaplane to St.R, we left over an hour later than scheduled, standing by the dock in the mid day heat with no staff around and no information, not just us but all the guests awaiting the transfer some with internation flights that were getting a bit close for their comfort. Suffice to say we missed the planned seaplane and ended up on the last one of the day!

There are worse hotels in the world that there is no doubt, but an Ambassador summed it up best telling me to just keep my head down for the final 36 hours as they had tried to speak to management but go absolutly nowhere and wasnt sure there was any management on the resort at that time. My experience was I am sure an extreme one and the majority of people will have a pleseant stay, but make no mistake they are all about the tour groups and nothing about the service and as someone connecting you will be bottom of the pile.
