When would you book flights for the holidays this year?
I’ve been able to score really good business class fares on United throughout the pandemic. I’ve flown three times to Europe for about $2,400 per roundtrip by booking a few months early. This included last holiday season (spending Christmas and New Year’s overseas, i.e. peak travel season).
When looking at pricing this year I don’t see anything decent under $3,100 (looking at departures around Dec 20 and return in early Jan). I’m thinking I should wait until the fall to book, as the rising U.S. covid numbers are likely to spook many flyers, thus slowing down international ticket sales (not to mention the potential for some EU borders to close again to American tourists).
Would you hold off buying tickets, or believe this higher business class pricing will now hold through the holidays? It’s actually not bad compared with pre-pandemic pricing and given the time of the year.
