Hi all - had a quick question. I booked a round trip from US to Lisbon, and I have a few hour layover in Heathrow. I was thinking of just missing the connection from Heathrow to Lisbon, and booking a flight to a different city than the Lisbon. This would allow my party to 1) have an easier itinerary as we can travel to another European city from Heathrow, and end in Lisbon before we go back to the US, 2) save us some time (5 - 10 hours) as we would have a shorter layover and save time/money by not having to return to Lisbon

- If we miss the connection, will our return flight from Lisbon back home be canceled automatically?
- If yes to #1 above, can we inform BA that we plan on not taking the connection flight, so our return flight does not get canceled?
- Any other options available to us besides having to fly into Lisbon?

If you don't turn up for the connection to Lisbon and miss that flight, all remaining sectors following that will be canceled automatically.
The only way to avoid that is to change the ticket beforehand. You may be better off canceling the ticket completely, taking an FTV and rebooking the flights you really want.
