is it totally reasonable for an American (obviously shorthand for no experience driving in Japan & reading Japanese language signs) to land at Chitose, rent a car, drive 2 hours to resort, explore the area around the hotel for a week, and then drive back 2 hours to Chitose? i'd never in a million years attempt to drive in Tokyo or Osaka.
