I just discovered from Ryanair's website that the free check-in window has been slashed from 48h before departure to 24h before departure, for all bookings made after 28 Jan 2021. Yet another trap for the unaware...

Exact quote: "If you choose not to purchase a seat, you will be able to check-in 48 hours in advance of each departure flight for bookings made prior to January 28, 2021, and 24 hours in advance for bookings made as of January 28, 2021 and a seat will be allocated to you (free of charge)."
