Circling back to this for whoever might find this in the future. I wound up going with the Patagonia Mini MLC. Seriously considered the GR1 but went for the Patagonia at the better price point.

So far so good, very happy with it. Even when stuffed to the brim it easily fit under seat on a CRJ900.
