Was curious if there were any other recent data points to confirm that the gift card payment still works to get around not having an AS Visa?
I had a vague recollection that the "must purchase companion ticket with AS card" rule was put into place, but I cancelled my card so long ago I completely forgot about it until now when I was trying to use my companion certificates. I received these back towards the end of 2019, prior to cancelling both my AS cards, and the certificates were extended last year -- so a long way to say this has all been out of sight/out of mind for a while now. I was really counting on using my 2 certificates to book family travel for a wedding later this year where the flights are coming out to be $800-900 per person. I suppose I have enough time to apply for the card again but would rather not do that if I can avoid it by simply doing the gift card method
