UPDATE: well my Spidey senses were not wrong that something is off. I use to fly frequently before COVID and never had this happen. So it turns out Delta's system is jacked up and actually booked my wife's tickets twice and none for me per CR. Scary thing is that I received zero error messages when booking or a follow up notification via email that the booking is in jeopardy.
They had to redo the whole booking. Also their Support Chat is quite fast! I think the whole thing took about an hour to resolve and involved 3 different department transfers.
