I just finished a hotel stay at this hotel. Some thoughts others might find helpful.
-- I used a combination of 2 cat 1-4 free nights and 1 15,000 point award. I had to call in to do this as they have a 3 night minimum but it was done quickly and efficiently.
-- The location is excellent as you are very close to Lahaina. I did not have a car and it was great to be able to just walk into the town.
-- If you are someone who is going to Maui to sit at a pool and be part of a resort this is probably not your hotel. The pool is small (though not tiny), not heated and not fancy. The hotel has no food options. On the other hand if you are someone touring during the day and looking for a nice place to stay at night, with a pool, and kitchens this is great. had stayed in the Grand Hyatt Kauai the nights before and this is totally different, as it is from the Regency. If all were equal I probably would prefer the Regency, but for the price this was a much better deal for me. Not only do they take the cat 1-4 certificates but they have the 25% back on award stays at Destination hotels right now, so my points night was really only 11,250 points...and I hit my 5th brand with this stay so got another cat 1-4 certificate.
-- I was upgraded to an ocean view as a discoverist member. I wrote in advance and asked about getting a king bed, and they said all the unit I was booked for were queen, but they could upgrade me to an ocean view. The view, from my fifth floor unit was great. My unit, otherwise, looked very similar to the one pictured above.
-- I asked for a 12PM checkout the night before and was rejected, but called in the morning, and was granted it, with no issue. I am not sure status had anything to do with this.
-- You can't use spray sunscreen in the unit...this I found annoying.
-- They have no fitness center.
