At Westin (and most other SPG legacy brands), daily breakfast in the restaurant for member+1 is a Platinum Elite welcome gift option. It's a generous welcome gift option, but if you pick it, that's your welcome gift. You're not also entitled to points, or a USD$10 F&B credit, or an amenity. If there's a lounge, you get lounge access too. But lounge access is not a guaranteed benefit at Westin, so there's no alternative if there's no lounge.

Some marriot's and gaylord gav "cold continental breakfasts - a call to mr marriott's office several years ago chnged that to nothing off the menu but anything on the walk around inclucing omelets
