Should she use the Verifly app and upload the results to that?
She needs a pre-departure test, any reliable USA supplier will do, antigen is fine, as is PCR as are other tests. She needs a PCR Day2 test booked in the UK, and it needs to be very specifically that sort of test from a government approved supplier. She needs a PLF filled in. And usually in that order, the PLF can only be submitted 48 hours before travel.
Having a printed copy may help speed things up at check-in - which is where this matters, not at the UK Border - but a digital copy on a smartphone is ok. Depending on the departure point in the USA, VeriFLY may also speed things up if it generates the big green tick. Places like DFW, IAD and JFK recognise it, but if they are not IT literate it should only take a few extra minutes to check the paperwork. The change brought in this week reduces the checks needed by airport agents.
