Perhaps the form is wired to perform validity checks to ensure that a particular booking reference number (from a particular provider) is consistent with the traveler's other PLF inputs (arrival country, traveler's home address ???). I have read elsewhere about folks having trouble getting the PLF to accept booking ref numbers from Express Test when Scotland was the destination maybe due to a postal code issue, but the issue was (and is) fuzzy to me (and it was a couple weeks ago).
I felt the need to check! The PLF will accept an English test booking reference whether your port of entry is LHR or EDI and with an address in Scotland. It also appears to accept a TTR booking reference for both too which is not valid for Scotland. There were some issues with cutting and pasting booking reference numbers I seem to recall, presumably because of hidden characters. That was with Collinson I think.
