Last time I was here -- June-ish of last year it was the awesome/easy Ultimate Choice experience with PC and all. Today I show up and the member directory is blank; very nice lady in the booth (there was no wait when I arrived) explained that as of April 1 they're privately owned and the new owner got rid of UC (despite all of the Ultimate Choice signage still being all over the lot). "I see you're booked in a midsize, will that work for you?" "Yeah, but I thought President's Circle was guaranteed a 1 class upgrade?" "Our new owner says that doesn't matter -- what you book is what you get." "Uh...." (I just stared at her for a moment trying to decide if this was a hill worth climbing).
Before I could say anything else she wound up pushing me to a fullsize (that has a couple respectable dents, and somewhat annoying rattle when I brake, no license plate [despite 40k miles], and was not cleaned -- interior or exterior -- but otherwise is completely fine)
So did I miss a program change, are non-corporate locations really allowed to ignore the program rules? Or is this a rogue location that doesn't understand that being a franchise means playing by the franchisor's rules?
time to status match to National for future trips to Omaha.
