I tried getting a One World award, but I am not sure I went about it properly, and I was told Cathay Pacific has no availability around my date. Are there alternatives along that line? Does anyone offer one-way awards for India-US? It seems silly to throw away so many miles. This is for mid-January, by the way, and I am not too flexible on the dates, unfortunately. Thanks!

edited to add date info
British Airways has one-way awards from LA to HKG to India for 40k miles in coach and 80k in business; it's on Cathay Pacific. If she is not Indian, then she may have to show proof of onward travel from India -- in which case, a fully refundable onward ticket back to the US or an award ticket that can be redeposited for a "reasonable" fee, may be helpful.
