I love 1A or failing that 1F. The seats are the same as on the rest of the aircraft, so I don't know where you got the impression that they were narrower. Do you mean because of the fixed rather than movable armrest? Not something I have ever noticed, though as one other person said, they like the ability to move the armrests to suit themselves. It's never bothered me.

Being near the galley is great, it's never bothered me whatsoever on a short haul. On an overnight long-haul, I find it's best to keep away, as the crew often chat to keep awake (which is fair) and the constant to and fro through the curtain is annoying, but on short haul, no problem at all.
