Not gonna defend anything about UA's operations at IAD, but not sure what's wrong with immigration. The only beef I have with it is the change a couple of years ago to a single exit door after the CBP check. For Global Entry it means backtracking to the left about 100 feet before going right . . . added 45 seconds to get to the taxis.
(I guess I should add that the insistence of the Red Caps to remove all luggage from carousels before the flight's passengers can get through immigration is highly annoying as well . . . more than 50% of the time (though I rarely check) I sit at the carousel for several minutes before realizing all the bags have been pulled into a mosh pit of luggage at one end of the carousel. ...?)
