Last week I took a cab home (no Ubers) and the driver said he was using "the app" instead of the meter. Is this legit? Never seen it before. The fare came out a little high (maybe 15% more than I'd expect). I wasn't too concerned because I was just happy to get home but afterwards I wondered if this is legit. I don't see that taxi fares have been raised so it seems a bit off to me. I am happy to support cabbies and usually tip quite well, but less inclined to big tip if the driver is ripping me off.
