ok i got you all. i cannot have a beer and a shot at an amex lounge--an after project tradition of mine--because of rules, policy, state law, regulations, and t+c.

all hilarity aside, at amex lounge the drinks are complicated and labor intensive and they make every single drink every time for every customer. so getting two of those each at a time (meaning 4 drinks for the op's party of 2) is really really rude to other customers who often come in for 15-45 min at a time to hopefully enjoy one of these drinks maybe twice (2), but cannot because of long lineups. so having 2 cocktails each at a lounge where the drinks are comp'd is really tacky.

or was this a beer+shot situation that the bartender got offended about? op did not mention type of drinks, context is needed here. because shot+beer is 2 drinks but not unreasonable but 2 cocktails each is absolutely is trashy behavior.

surprised some people here were unable to get doubles, never been an issue for me. the cocktails in the lounge by default are doubles and are very strong (as they should).
