I wasn't offered anything for free for NYT but did a years subscription for $4 a month for the first year. I figure even if I cancel the card on my renewal this fall that's a good enough deal to keep paying for through the promo.
You can add the $5/mo NYT food/cooking add on, hoping that qualifies. Wish they had more recipes for singles but there a couple I'm going to try and will just freeze the left overs.
