I've seen this policy enforced at the DFW, SEA and SFO Lounges. The bartenders were universally polite when doing it.

In SEA, I tried to order a double because my visit would be short. The bartender said he couldn't serve doubles. I thanked him, and tipped him, as I always do. A few minutes later, he found my seat and surprised me with a second drink.
