When I had been on hold with CR for a bit, I tried Twitter to see if I could figure out the standard policies. I suggested that, and was told, "No, you will need to go to the original airport that you are booked at. I can't speak to the decisions that the Agent will make since we are a part of two different departments. You'll need to speak with an Agent at FLL not MIA for any assistance -Mariam"
Next time we're significantly delayed on a single destination trip - this one was weird, FLL---BZN, a couple days driving through Glacier, then GEG-DEN for a night before returning home - I think we'll try it just to see if that's accurate. We are unfailingly polite, even friendly, and it has always served us well. I just had some nonrefundable costs this time with independent properties that I wanted trip insurance to cover in a pinch, and I was worried that failing to show up for our scheduled flight could easily interfere with that. Some time when missing a night won't cost us more than a night's stay - Hyatt might even take pity on us and waive that - we'll give it a try. I suspect that, even if Twitter was right and they don't have direct ability to make the change, they have quicker access to supervisors who might.
