It's actually the 787-9, not -900. Boeing changed how they name the variants a number of years ago. All of the 737 MAX aircraft are 737-8, 737-9, 737-10, etc., too. The last 747 was the 747-8. Same with the 777s.

I've never flown the 787 so don't have any information other than what's online. The Wikipedia page on the 787 lists the published ranges of each variant and the 787-9 is the longest-range version at 7,635nm. EWR-JNB is 6,943nm.
