Hello,
I have a theoretical question and just wanted to some reassurance.
I have a standard return booking DUS-LHR-MIA in F, on Christmas Day. My plan is to travel on to either Ecuador or Mexico. Given the ongoing restrictions of tourist travel to the US, I am tempted to change my outbound flight to MEX as my flight to MIA was always more of a positioning flight due to the AA hub but I can get to anywhere in South America from MEX. There is availability on BA on the day and the fare difference would be palatable. I would leave my return flight unchanged and come back via the US (15 days outside of Schengen in a "clean" country etc.).
Here's my question: If I change my flight routing now, could I still take a refund or get a re-routing if my flight from DUS to LHR is cancelled? I am not really worried about the LHR - MEX flights as that flight has been going all along. But although the winter schedule has 3 daily flights from DUS to LHR, at present there is only one flight per day and I can't imagine that they'll fly the route 3 times per day by Christmas (and particular on Christmas Day). I think it won't be a problem, but I've had so many "maybe" bookings (sorry CWS!) that I just want one flight to stick for a change!
Thanks very much!
