Incidentally, I noticed just a couple of years ago Aeroflot holiday flights from Moscow to Varadero. Cuba has taken over from Dominican Republic as the principal "cheap" Caribbean resort from Europe. Cuba has controlled crime against tourists. Dominican Republic didn't.

Notwithstanding the close-by oil refineries of Curacao, the jet fuel came from the Black Sea refineries in Odessa, Shannon airport-style.
