Hi. I am new to the whole miles game. I have been an AAdvantage member for years, and have slowly built up my miles. I've been in overdrive lately trying to max the amount of miles I get for anything. If someone could possibly help me with the following question:

1. If I book on Qatar Airways website, am I able to get AAdvantage miles? I'm looking at taking a trip to AMD, and the AA website does not offer the flight I want. I'm not sure why, but on Qatar Airways there is a flight I'd like from MIA-DOH-AMD, but that's not available on AA.com. AA only has at least 2 stops, and they're much more expensive. Also, I've been trying to search to redeem miles, and I am getting an error message.
