I was rebooked into economy, offered $500 but had to pay for “even more space”. They then emailed and said their payment processing system dropped the payment and I’d have to call. When I did I said it didn’t sit well that I had to pay for this “upgrade” and the agent agreed, got an exception and waved the fee. It’s fair compensation but what I really wanted was the service I booked, not a voucher.
My question: is this normal for JetBlue? After my first trip in Mint I was exited about JetBlue but if equipment swaps like this are common I’m not sure it’s worth the gamble :-/
They are having a lot of aircraft issues this summer due to the rapid ramp up. They delayed a year worth of maintenance events and scheduled those mint flights really aggressively this summer. So with all these MX issues, they've had to quite a bit of aircraft swapping. This should ease as we get through the summer. I'd expect things to probably return to normal-ish by Q4.
