Room type was changed on day of arrival so may have been an upgrade but not sure it makes much of a difference. Don't have much to add except that while it's old, it's nothing like the older builds of HIX which I only ever stayed in because of IHG's mega promos from 2013-2019 which pretty much worked out as BOGOF (pay £50 and get 15000 points for another night at an HIX) - at least here they seem to try and maintain it as best as they can while at HIX they don't care. Of course it doesn't compare to the newly built HIXs.
2 bottles of water in a useless paper bag were left in the room. Water pressure from sink and shower is quite low.
The only real negative which turned into a positive was that the breakfast hours are only 0700-0900!! My project overran and didn't get back to the hotel until 0930, and as they hadn't dumped the uneaten buffet food yet they were able put together a big plate for me
Parking seems to have been free for many years so don't know why they just don't remove the barriers and the threatening sign at the entrance
