I am trying to use $3000 in travel credit before August for a trip from SFO to Nice in September. My travel credit only applies to UA metal. I would like to fly NS from SFO to LHR than do a second ticket on BA to Nice. Plan on arrival 1040 and departure same day to Nice at 1420. Return from Nice to LHR at 1045 with departure to SFO at 1630. Understand we will have to pick up baggage and and go through immigration and customs before checking in at another terminal for our second flight. My questions are, would this be a problem? Should I allow more time between flights?
It should not be a problem. However it is very difficult to predict how long immigration queues will be. There may be none or they could be hours long. If you can get a longer transit on your outbound, I think it would be wise. September will be outside the main holiday month, so it may be better. Equally the rules are likely to change by then.
