name-spelling on ticket vs. FFP question
Hey folks,
we have several tickets booked with BA. The name of the passenger includes Umlaute. ä ö ü - that kind of german stuff.
The name of the ticket is with the umlauts but with the according regular vowel. So like Muller instead of Müller.
The name of the pax in the FF number is with the substitutional double-vowel ae instead of ä, oe instead of ü and so on: its Mueller instead of Müller.
The name in the passport of the pax is with the substitutional double-vowel ae instead of ä, oe instead of ü and so on: its Mueller instead of Müller.
because Mueller and Muller doesnt fit together, the AA system doesnt recognize the pax FF status correctly. thats how i got notice of the issue. after that i had this odyssee.
1. i called AA to manually chose seats - agent wasnt able, told me that BA hat to change the name in the reservation.
2. i called BA. ba told me that she absolutely has no issue to fly because this deviation is according to international spelling rules. its an AA issue and they have to chose the seats manually.
3. i called AA again, another AA told me that (2) isnt true and BA has to change the name in the ticket as it has to match the travel documents. worst case scenario: she wouldnt be allowed to board the plane
4. now i am on hold because the AA calls oneworld.
<edit>
Update. AA Agent told me after he spoke to oneworld that BA can and has to change the ticket to match the documents. it is possible and he cant imagine why they arent doing it.
Dear Hivemind,
who is right? what shall I do?
