This response is cynical to the point of being ridiculous. It is not just a matter of getting you from A to B, the schedule matters a whole lot as well (at least to most people). The OP clearly stated a 5+ hour delay in the new itinerary, which changes the equation.

If the OP doesn't opt for a full refund, they should contact the airline and negotiate some form of compensation. Delta customer service is always nice and will more than likely follow through.
