KL is never going to get anywhere near the top spot in the Airline Gourmet League, but we all know that already. You have alternatives. Could try SAS a.k.a. Ryanair, for example.

The food was subjectively bad - but I focused on the margarine (as minor as that would be standing alone) in my post as I thought that was an objective indication of crappiness.

SAS aka Ryanair served Lurpak butter in coach on the transatlantic flight.
