If I pay US$400 more, I can sit in PE for both HKG-YYZ and YVR-HKG. The US legs will still be in Economy. This ticket also allows cancellation with a fee (US$200) and 50% more mileage.

This is my first time taking AC so not sure if PE worth the extra. Also, I expect economy class would probably be not very full and may be able to have a whole row by myself. Should I pay the extra? Thx a lot!

PE on an AC int'l widebody is essentially their J service on domestic narrowbody. Actually it's nicer in my opinion.

Not sure if you'd use the extra mileage, but I would always spend this small extra amount for the comfort , meals and drinks.
