Granted, it sounds like you don't have big travel plans (or the time for them) for now, but the question is more - what about the future? Especially with a family of 5, if you wanted to do a big family trip when the kids are a little older and could appreciate a special destination, you can burn through points really quickly. Like, hundreds of thousands if not millions at a time. If it were me I'd at least be giving that some consideration.
Finding award availability for multiple people is a pain, especially if we’re talking about saver availability for those crazy CPPs you mentioned. For many ppl, the savings may not even be worth the tome
