We just came back from there and well were disappointed to put it mildly. We booked through Hyatt for 2 nights and checked out after the first night. The property is nice albeit dated and it feels more like AirBnB than a hotel, and it is run like kind of old school inn (things that I remember from travels on a dime in southern US years ago). It is very small which is a plus in our book. Generally, don't expect anything flashy. Suites are big compared to regular hotel rooms. We had large shower, bedroom with bathtub, and office space but w/o separating doors. There was also a balcony which however was not cleaned thoroughly and there were a lot of creepy crawlies in the corners (I have arachnophobia so we did not spend time there). Toiletries are very high quality and not in single use packages which we appreciated. I think location is actually very nice b/c it feels much more quiet than around Hilton Coronado while walk to the beach is still only 5-7 minutes. Unless you really want to be on the beach this feels nicer than Hilton and the hotel is 2-3 times cheaper. Breakfast is included in rates and it is really good. There is also happy hour that we did not partake in. Parking is also included in rate and there is no resort fees; thus no typical hotel scamming here (nice feeling for a change).

Now to the ugly:
(1) we still wear masks b/c we are concerned about the delta variant and experienced Covid death of a close relative. Nobody else was wearing masks, which is fine by the current regulation, however we did not appreciate condescending comments from the staff informing us multiple times that we do not have to wear masks in CA anymore.
(2) hotel does not offer any SLH benefits. Late checkout was important to us given late flight but we were told that they do not offer this despite it being a published benefit. Check out is at 11 am and you are expected to pay $250 if you miss the 11 am mark. This is fine but should be disclosed on Hyatt web page. Knowing this we would not have booked it.
(3) There is no daily housekeeping and you have to request it. We actually explicitly requested that nobody can enter the room w/o our presence. They had window washing during our stay, and they texted us a day before about this and whether they can enter the room. We texted back that they cannot if we are not present in the room. The next day (our 2nd) we came back from sightseeing and walked on outside contractors in our room with fully open doors. We had to do some work during the stay so we had some confidential documents in the room and this was the reason why nobody could enter the room without our physical presence. This of course was a security threat and if they had taken anything from the room or saw any of the documents we could be in a big trouble in our jobs. We were obviously furious with the hotel and decided to leave immediately. We moved to Grand Hyatt for the second night.

We were promised full refund so we'll see if this goes through. EDIT: we got full refund. This is the best they could have remediated the mess so no super hard feeling.

We will obviously never be back.

I'd say that if you are not concerned with security (i.e., not being on workation) and you don't mind a specific attitude then this is an ok place given the price point and prices of surrounding properties. It's good value for money but can also get you fired
