You don't need a PCR for the UK, NAAT, RATs and LAMP will all do, so I guess this is for Jersey.
I was asking for an antigen test but they kept saying they do rapid tests, which they werent sure was the same thing, but since either one was free I didnt really mind.

Jersey refuses to accept the american pcr test, so I'll do their test on arrival and wait for the result. No hardship since I'll be arriving at 21:30 after 20 hours of travel, i'll be straight to bed!

Unfortunately the PCR test you mention (whilst in the USA) , taking 72 hours prior to arriving in Jersey will not be valid.

As the PCR test needs to be a Ukas ‘’accredited’’(UK) test. Jersey currently only accepts, this type of PCR test on arrival. Although you will receive a PCR Test on arrival (free test)
