Free Black Cabs home from Tesco

An aid for the Laurent Perrier run for central London, metrosexual/heteroflexible, non-car owning, free-during-the-day FTers. Or is that just me?

Tesco will give you a free cab home. It really is that simple.

All you need is to get Customer Services to ring up the dedicated Radio Taxis line. It appears that there are 20 or so branded Radio Taxis working 11am-7pm. They'll send the nearest one to you (typical wait about 15 minutes; enough time for a soothing Marlboro and a glance at the racing pages) and on presentation of a receipt dated that day the trip is free.

It's a pilot scheme, and not promoted in store. There was an article about it in Monday's E'en Stnd'd, but they're not very busy. I've used it twice (saving me about £30) and have had the same driver both times. He does an eight hour shift and is averaging about five jobs a day.
