AMM & DOH are both in the Middle East so this would still technically be North America to Africa connecting in Middle East. However in order for that routing to work as a single award you generally need a valid published fare on RJ/QR that also allows such a routing. This is getting into the weeds of AA award rules. The best course of action is to try to book it if you see availability, if it tickets as a single award great, but if AA comes back and says it's going to cost more miles we can troubleshoot then (but the above is most likely the issue).
