It’s a shame to see the end of one of the last airports in the UK to end free drop off. It did get annoying when private hire operators (not just Uber but definitely including them) would say they’d meet you in a particular area and then add a fee to cover waiting and airport parking then call you when you arrive saying they’re just around the corner and can you head up to departures while you have to wait for them to get from where they were parking.

As for Crossrail, coming from Kings Cross or St Pancras you’d take one stop on Thameslink or Circle line to Farringdon and change there, no need to go to TCR.
