22K per night will really cost 19.8K per night if you have the credit card (basically offsetting the loss of points from a revenue stay)

Instead of $380.57 they charged me 31,165 points.
MD/DC Flyer I didn't get your point on why its worst - I can not think of better use - I can transfer to Southwest and if I reserve 2 months ahead of the trip, I might get a cheap ticket. I am only Gold status with IHG. IHG Gold points won't expire right?
If I paid cash, then wanted use pts to pay for the charge, it still would have been at 1.25. But the cash price might be $118 instead of $125 via Chase - $7 savings.
Do you have a suggestion to get better value other than 1st class?
