You're definitely legally entitled to carry that with you. Security at Heathrow, however, are horrible and think their GCSE level education makes them medical doctors. You may need to stand your ground. Just make sure you have your prescription/medical note with you. It is definitely not advisable to check medication and needles/syringes, for all sorts of reasons.
