I recently flew ANA 0006 as a United codeshare from NRT to LAX on a 777-300. Based on what I saw during boarding, the front was nearly empty and the Premium Economy section only had a few passengers as well. The regular economy section where I sat (which is quite small) was actually quite full, although the seat next to me was empty. I wonder why ANA doesn't offer paid upgrades to enhance their revenue during this difficult time?
To not hollow out their premium product, and to avoid getting people used to seeing a cheaper shortcut to J.
The extra revenue to be gained is in the bigger picture of the pandemic revenue drop probably negligible.
