LGW as well

We get the odd one dropping over West Sussex and Surrey, depending on the landing direction at LGW.

The brake temperature keeps them warm for a bit, if they are not crushed to death on gear retraction. It depends if the wheel well is sealed as to the pressurisation issue. You won't last very long at 37000 with local oxygen unless you are a sherpa from Nepal. With the temperature drop to -56C you need to have hot brakes before take off.

The Nigeria problem also used to be the baggage hold. Cars would drive along the taxiway at night, people would open the baggage hold and jump in before emptying the bags out to steal them and/or get in to fly out. They used to try to shut the doors behind them so that the flight would depart with just a flashing yellow light for the short time the doors were open.

Last time I was at Port Harcourt (Nigeria) at night then the local with a gun came out to challenge/shoot me as I walked along the approach lights. However, the airport manager stopped him. The local did not shoot the water buffalo/gnu/cow/bush animal that cra**ed all over the runway. Lagos is a bit better than it used to be as it has a security fence and some control over airside access now, but not a lot.

What lengths people will go to in order to avoid the £15 off line booking fee.
