Airline vs country — who makes the rules entering France?

Wanted to get some expert opinions about this scenario. My family of five (who are all vaccinated US citizens ) are flying to Paris within the week. We are flying SFO to Mexico City to CDG on Aeromexico (no stopover).

I recently received an email from aeromexico stating that we would need to have PCR tests done 72 hours prior to departure from SFO. The information page On their website that they refer to is outdated and does not recognize the US as a “green” Country. I tried to contact their customer service and was told that they would need to rely on the information that they have currently available on their own site. Unfortunately it is completely wrong and would require me to get unnecessary PCR tests prior to our flight.

my wife says let’s just get the tests. I’m being a bit stubborn but I’m wondering if I’m going to be stopped at the check-in counter trying to board our flight and prevented from checking in. Will it make any difference if I bring in information from the French government concerning current Covid Testing entry requirements from the US? In this case, I’m wondering if the check in agent has the ability to prevent me from flying when the information they may be using is out of date. I tried to contact Aeromexico via phone and got no good information. I also contacted them via Twitter and they suggested I go by the individual countries recommendations. Is it worth taking the risk to do what is legitimately right or should I just get the tests done prior to flying.

Hopefully someone on FT has taken this flight recently and can shed some light on the topic. Thanks!
