I did not fly LH all the way back to the U.S. - I had a short LH flight to Frankfurt to connect with United to the U.S. This was just yesterday. Having had no problems using the Abbott test for the inbound flights, I thought return would be even easier. Unfortunately the LH agent was not familiar with the test, and did not know antigen test is acceptable for U.S. travel. She brought in a supervisor who called LH in Germany to ask if this test was accepted. I had to correct the supervisor a couple of times when he described the test on the phone as “some kind of home test”, but in the end (after 20 minutes) it was ok. I showed United ads for the test as well as a press release by Abbott and United about their partnership and CDC approval. I was prepared to escalate further if necessary, but luckily it worked out. I learned that as a passenger it is important to understand these rules and be prepared to show proof, then escalate if necessary.
